Beautillion 2008
Friday June 13, 2008

Beautillion 2006The Beautillion is the culminating event of the chapters’ Rites of Passage program. The Rite of Passage, as it is known, has its origin in ancient Africa. It is a ceremonial ritual welcoming our male youth into adulthood. Each year males selected to take part would be sent to a place where elders would prepare them for manhood in a process that would last from three months to three years before they returned to their villages.

Today our preparation of initiates is less rigid and less conforming than that of their forebears. Rites of passage participants, young men and their female escorts undergo a series of workshops and participate in activities that will assist them in the transition to adulthood and prepare them for their presentation to the community at the Beautillion.

The seminar addressed related to the home-buying process and elabroated on common topics including Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI), the point system and how it affects your rates and down payment, and the differences between Adjustable Rate Mortgages (ARMs) and Fixed Rate Mortgages?

The event was a huge success and was well attended by members of the community. Attendees left the seminar better equipped to tackle the issues involved in the home-buying process and more able to make informed decisions when they are ready to purchase a home.
