Helping Girls…PERIOD
Delta Rho Omega is excited to continue its efforts in supporting young women in underserved communities and temporary housing. In partnership with organizations like WIN, we are dedicated to raising awareness about menstrual hygiene and providing essential mentoring support to those in need.

Our approach is simple but effective: by combining menstrual hygiene education with personalized mentoring, we aim to empower young women and provide them with the tools they need to succeed. Through these workshops, we strive to build a supportive and nurturing environment where young women can thrive and achieve their full potential.

ENHANCE OUR ENVIRONMENT

NYC Parks Partnership
In partnership with the City Parks Foundation and NYC Parks, Delta Rho Omega is proud to announce our upcoming community service initiative. This May, we will join forces with the Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc® to beautify Irving Square Park in Bushwick.

Our mission is to enhance the beauty of this local park, making it a more enjoyable space for community members to gather and enjoy outdoor activities. We will be working together to plant flowers, clean up debris, and make other improvements to the park.

Community Shred Days
Delta Rho Omega is excited to announce our partnership with a local politician to provide a unique opportunity for our chapter members and the broader community. Together, we will be hosting a shredding event where individuals can safely and securely dispose of sensitive documents, reducing clutter and promoting responsible document management.

Our commitment to community service drives us to seek out opportunities that benefit those around us. By hosting this event, we hope to empower individuals to take control of their personal and professional lives, while also promoting environmental sustainability.

We look forward to working alongside our community partners to make this event a success. By joining forces, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of those around us and promote a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

Adopt-a-Highway
Delta Rho Omega will partner with the New York City Department of Transportation Adopt-a- Highway volunteer program. As part of this initiative, we will be taking an active role in beautifying our community and promoting environmental sustainability. Our goal is to make a positive impact in our community by taking care of our local highways and keeping them clean and beautiful for all to enjoy.

UPLIFT OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

Rites of Passage/Beautillion
For over 23 years, the Delta Rho Omega Chapter has proudly hosted the Rites of Passage and Beautillion Program. This transformative program is specifically designed to empower high school students by providing a series of interactive workshops aimed at preparing them for future success.

Through the program, students receive invaluable guidance and support from experienced mentors who work closely with them throughout the entire process. These dedicated mentors are passionate about helping young people unlock their full potential and achieve their goals.

We believe that the Rites of Passage and Beautillion Program is a vital component of our organization's efforts to make a positive impact in the community. By empowering young people with the tools and skills they need to succeed, we are helping to build a stronger, more resilient community for everyone.

Circle of Love
The Health Care Initiative, formerly known as the Senior Committee, has undergone a transformation to better serve the community. The initiative has been expanded to include a section of the mental health population at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR), and has been renamed as The Circle of Love Committee.

The target audience at CNR comprises of approximately 300 residents who are a diverse group of rehabilitating adults, some with mental health issues, disabilities, and varying ages. The Circle of Love volunteers not only provide emotional support through regular visits, but also distribute care packages and organize workshops to enhance the well-being of the residents.

We are proud to have taken this step to broaden our impact and bring joy and comfort to those in need. The Circle of Love Committee is committed to providing care and support to members of our community who are often overlooked. We believe that through our efforts, we can make a positive difference in the lives of these individuals.

Harvest Fest
Every year, Delta Rho Omega has the privilege of supporting students and families in New York's 21st Senatorial District (Brooklyn) for Harvest Fest. As part of this effort, our chapter will be donating and assembling backpacks filled with essential supplies for distribution at the annual end-of-summer celebration.

We believe that every child deserves to start the school year with the tools they need to succeed. By providing backpacks filled with supplies such as pencils, notebooks, and other necessities, we are helping to ensure that students have what they need to excel academically.

HBCU College Tour
Our College Tour has been a longstanding program designed to support students on their journey to making informed decisions about their college education. To prepare for the weeklong tour, participants engage in valuable workshops that provide them with insight into the college application process.

In addition to the workshops, students also have the opportunity to learn about the rich legacies of ten Historically Black Colleges and Universities. We believe that this exposure to HBCUs not only provides students with an appreciation for the role these institutions have played in shaping our nation's history, but also inspires them to consider these schools as part of their college search.

We are proud to offer this program as a part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the academic aspirations of our community's young people. By providing students with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their college education, we are helping to build a brighter future for all.

Holiday Cheer
The holiday season is a special time of year that should be shared with all children, regardless of their family's income. We are committed to making this vision a reality through our Holiday Cheer Committee, which coordinates toy and holiday gift donations and spreads joy and cheer to families in need.

We understand the challenges that many families face during the holiday season, and we are dedicated to helping them overcome these obstacles. Our goal is to provide children with the gifts and experiences that they deserve, and to help families create lasting memories together.

2023 J. Marjory Jackson Program

The Performing Arts Committee of Delta Rho Omega Chapter hosts a yearly competition that showcases the talents of high school seniors and college freshmen. This exciting event provides participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in various performing arts categories.

The winner of our competition earns the opportunity to represent Delta Rho Omega at the Cluster III competition for the J. Marjory Jackson Scholarship. This scholarship is a prestigious award that recognizes outstanding achievement in the performing arts and provides financial support to deserving students.

We are proud to support emerging artists in our community and to provide a platform for them to showcase their talents. If you know a talented high school student who would be interested in participating in our competition, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

MLK Day of Service
In honor of the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., our committee has organized a day of service to make a positive impact in our community. As part of a coordinated effort with Alpha Kappa Alpha chapters worldwide, we are committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need.

In past years, Delta Rho Omega has focused on supporting young mothers through a pamper and supply drive, as well as hosting workshops for them and their children. We believe that these efforts can make a significant difference in the lives of these families and help them to thrive.

Prom Project
Our committee is committed to making prom a special and memorable experience for all students, regardless of their financial situation. We recognize the high cost of prom attire can be a significant burden for many families, and we are dedicated to helping alleviate that burden.

To support this cause, our committee will organize several fundraising events, including a holiday gift wrapping fundraiser and a promwear drive. These efforts will help us provide free prom attire to students in need, ensuring that everyone can attend prom in style.

We are proud to partner with Operation Prom Brooklyn and the office of NYS Senator Kevin Parker to make this initiative a success. Together, we can make a positive impact in the lives of our community's youth and help them to celebrate this important milestone without financial stress.
