
DELTA RHO OMEGA PROGRAMS
Rites of Passage/Beautillion
The Rites of Passage and Beautillion Program has been a staple in the Delta Rho Omega Chapter for over 23 years. This program will focus on high school students. The participants will participate in quality programs to help them reach their lifelong goals.
HBCU College Tour
Our long standing College Tour will help students on their journey to making their college decision. As well as promote our international theme of HBCU 4 Life and the importance of of supporting historically black colleges and universities.
Circle of Love
Formally the Senior Committee, members expanded this Health Care Initiative to visiting and serving a section of the mental health population at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR), thus renaming the Committee, The Circle of Love. The target audience at CNR, (approximately 300 residents), consist of a mixture of rehabilitating Adults, some with mental issues, various disabilities, and of various ages.
Breast Cancer Awareness
Focusing specifically on early detection through mammograms to improve the survival rate of women diagnosed with breast cancer. Partnering with local clinics, and hospitals, we emphasize the need for African-American women to receive regular mammograms, through a free Mammography Clinic.
AKAfit Squad
We've enhanced our commitment to healthy hearts through fitness, structured nutrition initiatives, and, healthier living.
AKA Assist
Delta Rho Omega will continue working with community partners to provide assistance through longstanding initiatives such as: collecting formal wear such: partnering with local food banks or pantries to serve meals to and/or provide canned goods for disadvantaged children and families in the Brooklyn community; providing donations of shoes, hats, scarves, coats, and gloves for families in need; dress, purse and shoe donations to partner organizations and volunteer on Dress Giveaway days. In addition, the State Senator’s Dress Giveaway will have an AKA showcase which will introduce the young ladies to sorority life. We also help Operation Prom with its Holiday Gift Wrapping Fundraiser.
Financial Fitness
We will work with the Brooklyn community to optimize and grow financial awareness. This program is a three part series of financial workshops over the year discussing various topics around homeownership, building wealth and planning targeting Brooklyn community members, young professionals, recent college graduates, and retirees.
J. Marjory Jackson Scholarship
Our signature scholarship program, is a performing arts scholarship competition in which high school seniors and college freshmen are able to showcase their vocal, dance, theater or musical talents.
